# Configure your bi-monthly subscription plans

> Box store
>
> This page applies to box stores hosted by Ciklik. Using the PrestaShop module? [See the PrestaShop documentation](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/prestashop/).

Key points

With Ciklik, a bi-monthly box store plan ships a box every 2 months: in the plan’s **Settings** tab, enter **Interval** month, **Cycle Count** 2 and **Shipment Count** 1. A quarterly subscription follows the same logic with a **Cycle Count** of 3. Your shipping months (for example January, March, May) are configured by the Ciklik team: send them by email when payments are activated, then for each new bi-monthly or quarterly plan. Subscribers are charged every 2 months and receive their box before their next payment, even though payment months do not match shipping months.

## Configure your shipping months

For bi-monthly subscriptions, you will first need to define your shipping months:

- January - March - May, …

OR

- February - April - June, …

You will need to inform us by email of your shipping months so we can configure them correctly for your plans, at the same time as activating the payment module on your website.

Subsequently, whenever you want to create new bi-monthly plans, you will need to let us know for the correct configuration of your shipping months.

## Configure your plans

For your bi-monthly plans, you will enter:

- 1 shipment over a 2-month cycle for a bi-monthly plan (**Interval** month, **Cycle Count** 2, **Shipment Count** 1)
- 3 shipments over a 6-month cycle, in the example of a so-called long subscription

Then, define your billing period, as presented in the article dedicated to creating a plan: [read the article](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/abonnements/creer-une-formule/)

## Managing bi-monthly subscriptions

## Reference points at the subscription level

Let’s take the example of a bi-monthly plan with a billing period from the 1st to the 10th and with the following shipping months: January, March, May, July, September, and November.

Your subscriptions will automatically renew every 2 months.

A new subscriber placing an order between March 11th and May 10th:

- will receive the May box (first box)
- will have a next payment date of June 1st for the July box

The payment months therefore do not correspond to your shipping months. However, each subscriber does have a 2-month period between each renewal of their subscription. And each subscriber will have received their box before their next payment.

## Reference points at the shipping slip level

Using the same example, a customer who subscribes between March 11th and May 10th will have a first shipping slip created on the date they place their order and scheduled for April 1st for the May box.

The [export of shipping slips](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/expeditions/gestion-des-bons-de-livraison/) for the May box is done based on scheduling dates between March 11th and May 10th.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I create a quarterly subscription?

Create the plan in Subscriptions > Plans with Interval month, Cycle Count 3 and Shipment Count 1, then email your shipping months to the Ciklik team so they can configure them.

### Why do I need to send my shipping months to Ciklik?

The shipping months of bi-monthly or quarterly plans are configured by the Ciklik team. Without this information, your boxes would not be tied to the right months.

### Do payments fall in shipping months?

Not necessarily. With shipments in January, March and May and billing from the 1st to the 10th, a subscriber who signs up between March 11th and May 10th receives the May box and is charged on June 1st for the July box.

### Can I turn a monthly plan into a bi-monthly one?

No. The interval, cycle count and shipment count can no longer be changed once the plan is created: create a new bi-monthly plan.

### Should I choose a monthly or bi-monthly box?

Ciklik generally recommends a monthly frequency, because bi-monthly subscribers tend to forget their subscription and unsubscribe for lack of perceived value. It depends on your products and your subscribers' expectations.
