# Offer products with subscription

> Box store
>
> This page applies to box stores hosted by Ciklik. Using the PrestaShop module? [See the PrestaShop documentation](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/prestashop/).

Key points

On a Ciklik box store, a product becomes available by subscription as soon as you attach at least one frequency to it, created in **Subscriptions > Advanced > Frequencies**. On the product page, the customer then chooses their quantity (1, 2 or 3 products) and how often they want to be delivered. You can grant a percentage or fixed discount based on the quantity taken by subscription. The same setup is used to sell refills by subscription: Ciklik has no dedicated feature, a refill is sold as a standard subscription, at a frequency that matches the consumption rate.

You can offer **subscription purchasing** on product detail pages. The customer then selects their **quantity** and the **frequency** at which they want to be delivered, then completes their order.

You can add a promotional offer based on the number of products chosen for subscription.

**Prerequisite**: You must have created your product page. You can refer to the following article: [Sell a product individually](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/produits/vendre-un-produit-a-l-unite/)

> Note
>
> When ordering a subscription product, the available shipping methods will be those active for the e-shop.

## Configure subscription purchasing from a product page

### Step 1: Create subscription frequencies

Start by creating the subscription frequencies that will be available for subscription purchasing from your product pages.

1. Go to **Subscriptions > Advanced > Frequencies**.

2. Click the create button in the top right and fill in the form:

   - **Site**
   - **Alert**: check it to send renewal notifications for this frequency
   - **Interval**: monthly, weekly, …
   - **Cycle Count**: 1, 2, …

For a monthly frequency, enter: monthly interval and 1 cycle. The subscription will renew on the anniversary date, every month.

### Step 2: Add subscription frequencies to the product

1. Go to **Products > Products**, then click the small eye icon (view) next to the product you want to offer with subscription.

2. From the product details, you will find the **Frequencies** section. Attach the previously created frequencies to the product.

As soon as a product has at least one frequency, its page offers subscription purchasing, in quantities of 1, 2 or 3 products.

### Step 3: Create a promotional offer based on the number of products chosen for subscription

You have the option to **offer a discount** based on the quantity of products taken with subscription. Example:

- 1 product with subscription = -10%
- 2 products with subscription = -15%
- 3 products with subscription = -20%

This can be a percentage discount or a fixed amount.

1. To configure such an offer, from the product details, go to the **Offers (Frequencies)** section.

2. Click the create button of the section and configure your offer:

   - **Quantity**: which product quantity the offer applies to
   - **Price**: fill in if you are offering a fixed amount discount
   - **Percent Off**: fill in if you are offering a percentage discount (enter 20 for 20%)
   - **Active**: for the offer to be displayed on your product page
   - **Site**: to link the offer to your site

## Selling refills by subscription

Ciklik has no dedicated [refill](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/demarrage/glossaire/#refill) feature: a refill offer is built with the box store features described below. The idea: the starter product is sold once, the refill is sold by subscription, at a frequency close to the consumption rate.

### The starter product, sold individually

Create the starter product (bottle, dispenser, kit) as an individual product, sold on your site’s `/shop` page. See [Sell individual products](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/produits/vendre-un-produit-a-l-unite/).

If the customer takes a shop product when they subscribe, that product is added to the subscription’s shipping slip, with the same `ship_` number (see [Shipping slips management](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/expeditions/gestion-des-bons-de-livraison/#products-and-addons)).

### The refill, by subscription

Two ways to sell the refill:

| | Product by subscription | Subscription plan |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Where | Product page, **Frequencies** section (this page) | **Subscriptions > Plans** |
| Customer’s choice | Quantity (1, 2 or 3) and frequency among those attached to the product | The plan, with its frequency set by the **Interval**, **Cycle Count** and **Shipment Count** |
| Discount | Based on quantity, **Offers (Frequencies)** section | Plan price, coupons |
| Detailed page | Steps 1 to 3 above | [Create a plan](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/abonnements/creer-une-formule/) |

With a plan, an addon of type **Addon** can act as the starter product: it is a special box shipped the first month, with an extra charge, after which the subscription continues on the plan. An addon of type **Upsell** with the **Applies to each billing** box checked adds a complementary product to every order of the subscription. See [Addons](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/abonnements/addons/).

### A frequency that matches consumption

Choose the frequency based on how long a refill lasts. A frequency is defined by an **Interval** (monthly, weekly, …) and a **Cycle Count**: for example, a weekly interval and a cycle count of 6 for a refill every 6 weeks.

Attach several frequencies to the product to let the customer choose the pace that matches their consumption. The frequency’s **Alert** box sends renewal notifications.

### When the subscriber still has stock

- **Pause by the subscriber**: when they want to cancel from their account, the [cancellation flow](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/retention/tunnel-de-desabonnement/) offers them a pause of 1 to 3 periods; the subscription resumes automatically when it ends.
- **Postponement by you**: from **Sales > Subscriptions**, the **Postpone Payment** action postpones the next payment by 1 to 12 periods and extends the subscription accordingly. See [Reschedule a payment](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/paiements/decaler-un-paiement/).

### Building loyalty with refill customers

- Reserve a coupon for customers with an active subscription with the **Subscribers only** box. See [Create a discount coupon](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/acquisition/creer-un-coupon-de-reduction/).
- Give subscribers a discount on all their shop purchases with the **Discount for Subscribers** field (**Settings > Sites**, **Marketing Parameters** tab). See [Sell individual products](https://www.ciklik.academy/en/produits/vendre-un-produit-a-l-unite/#offer-a-shop-discount-to-subscribers).
