# Anonymize customer data

## GDPR Compliance

This feature allows you to anonymize a customer’s personal data in compliance with GDPR regulations.

### Why Anonymize?

- Respect the right to be forgotten
- Delete personal data
- Comply with GDPR
- Handle deletion requests

### How to Anonymize

> Caution
>
> This action is irreversible. Once anonymized, the data cannot be recovered.

1. Open the customer profile from **Sales > Users**.

2. Open the actions menu.

3. Select **Anonymize Account (GDPR)**.

4. Confirm the action.

The data is then anonymized:

- The email is replaced with a random address and the password is reset
- Postal addresses (first name, last name, address, city, phone) are replaced with random values
- Saved payment methods are deleted

The customer can no longer log in to their account.

### Data Retained

After anonymization, the following data remains:

- Order history (without personal information)
- Payment history (amounts)
- Subscription history

### Data Deleted

The following data is deleted or replaced:

- Email and password
- First name, last name, address and phone of postal addresses
- Payment methods

If you use an integration such as Mailchimp, also unsubscribe this person from those tools.
