Payment Errors

“Your card does not support this type of purchase” often indicates that the customer used a virtual card, which is for single-use transactions. This would explain why it no longer works. Note that these are fairly generic responses sent by the cardholder’s bank, so we have limited information.

“Insufficient funds” is related to an account that does not have the necessary amount at the time of payment. 3 retry attempts are made until the 10th of the month, so if you have 3 customers with this issue, 12 transactions with this error may appear.

For “card declined” errors, again, this is a generic message from the card-issuing bank. It can decline for various reasons (blocked card, insufficient funds, expired card, false fraud detection, etc.).

However, since each failure potentially triggers 3 more retry attempts, 4 credit card transactions in error are generated.
