Reschedule a payment

Box and PrestaShop

This page applies to both box stores and PrestaShop stores. On a PrestaShop store, the Postpone Payment action does not apply: change the Next Billing field instead. Shipping slip creation only applies to box stores.

Three ways to postpone a subscription’s next payment, all from Sales > Subscriptions:

• the Postpone Payment action, which postpones the payment, extends the subscription and creates the shipping slips;
• the Next Billing field, which only changes the charge date;
• the manual method, which combines the Next Billing field and the Create Shipping Slip action.

The “Postpone Payment” action

From the subscription list, open a subscription’s details (view icon), then choose the Postpone Payment action in the actions menu.

In the Number field, enter the number of periods to postpone, from 1 to 12 (for example 1 to postpone a monthly shipment by one month). The action:

• postpones the next payment date;
• extends the subscription accordingly;
• creates the matching shipping slips.

The action is always listed, but it refuses a cancelled subscription with the message “Cet abonnement est résilié” (this subscription is cancelled).

PrestaShop store

On a PrestaShop subscription, the Postpone Payment action does not apply: the date does not change. Change the Next Billing field instead (next section).

Postpone several subscriptions at once

From the subscription list (Sales > Subscriptions), use the filters, tick the subscriptions you want, then choose the “Postpone Payment” action in the actions menu. The same number of periods applies to each selected subscription.

Only select active subscriptions: as soon as a cancelled subscription is met, the action stops with the message “Cet abonnement est résilié” (this subscription is cancelled).

Isolate gift card subscriptions if needed. If needed, you can delete the shipping slips that were created.

Change the next payment date

1. From the subscription list, click the subscription’s Edit icon (pencil).

2. In the Next Billing field, pick the new date, then save.

Caution

Pick a date consistent with your billing cycle, in most cases the 1st of the month.

Nothing changes on the shipping slips: only the next charge date is modified.

Manual method

To postpone the payment and create the matching shipping slip yourself (box stores):

1. Change the subscription’s Next Billing field (previous section).

2. From the subscription details, run the Create Shipping Slip action: choose the delivery address, an active carrier, the scheduled delivery date and, if needed, a name.

The new slip appears in Sales > Shipments > Shipping Slips. To move the date of an existing slip, see Move a slip’s date.

Schedule the cancellation with the “Cancels On” field

The Cancels On field is in the subscription’s collapsed Renewal panel. You fill it in from the edit form.

A subscription renews automatically: this field is therefore empty. It is filled in for a subscription that comes from a gift card, to bound the period the card covers.

Enter a date to cancel the subscription on that date.

Note

The subscription is cancelled 5 days before the date entered, so that data is not skewed the day before the next charge.

A date less than 5 days from the day you enter it is not taken into account.

Once this field is filled in, the subscriber can no longer interrupt or reactivate the subscription from their account, as with a gift card.
