Change next payment dates

Two actions change the payment date of scheduled orders (state “Scheduled”):

ActionWhereWhat for
Change Next Payment DatesOrder detailsShift a subscriber’s orders by days, weeks or months, or align them on a day of the month
Shift payment datesOrder listShift the selected orders by 1 to 3 days, for example before a closure

To postpone the payment of the subscription itself, see Reschedule a payment.

The action is offered on the details of an order with the “Scheduled” status whose Next Payment date has not passed.

  1. From Sales > Orders > Orders, open the order. You can also find it in the Order section of the subscription details.

  2. In the actions menu, choose Change Next Payment Dates.

  3. In the Mode field, choose Shift or Align to day of month, fill in the mode’s fields (see below), then confirm.

FieldEffect
IntervalMonth, Week or Day
NumberNumber of intervals to add. A negative value brings the date forward: a red message warns that it may fall in the past. At most 12 months, 26 weeks or 90 days
Extend NextTicked: the order and all following scheduled orders of the subscription are shifted. Unticked: only this order moves
Extend DeliveriesWith Extend Next ticked, the subscription’s upcoming shipping slips are shifted by the same amount. No effect when only the order is shifted

The message “Dates have been updated.” confirms the operation.

This mode moves all scheduled orders of the subscription to the same day of the month, for example to group a subscriber’s charges on the 1st or the 15th.

FieldEffect
Target day of monthDay between 1 and 28. The limit of 28 guarantees the day exists in every month, February included
Extend DeliveriesThe shipping slips of each aligned order are scheduled the day after its new payment date

The calculation applies to each “Scheduled” order of the subscription whose next payment date is today or later:

  • before the target day in the month: the order is brought forward to the target day of the current month;
  • after the target day: it is moved to the target day of the following month;
  • already on the target day: it does not move.

Paid, failed or other orders are not changed. The message “Orders have been aligned” confirms the operation.

Example: alignment on the 1st of the month for a subscription with 3 scheduled orders.

The Shift payment dates action changes the next payment date of several scheduled orders at once. It is useful before a closure (holidays, public holidays), so that no charge goes out while you are away.

  1. Filter the orders

    From Sales > Orders > Orders, use the filters:

    • State: “Scheduled”;
    • Next Payment After: start of the period to shift;
    • Next Payment Before: end of the period to shift.
  2. Select the orders

    Tick the orders to shift, or use the “select all” box of the page.

  3. Run the action

    In the actions menu, choose Shift payment dates.

  4. Choose the shift

    The Number of days field offers -3, -2 and -1 day(s) to bring the date forward, +1, +2 and +3 day(s) to postpone it.

  5. Confirm

Safeguards:

  • Only scheduled orders are changed. Paid, failed or cancelled orders are skipped.
  • A date that would fall in the past is refused: the order is skipped.
  • A summary message tells how many orders were shifted and how many were skipped.

Example: you close from March 15 to 18 and several subscribers have a charge on March 16. Filter with “Next Payment After” = March 15, “Next Payment Before” = March 18 and State = “Scheduled”, select all orders and run Shift payment dates with +3: the March 16 charges move to March 19.
