Key points
Ciklik’s referral program is enabled for a box store in Settings > Sites, Marketing Parameters tab, with two fixed amounts: Referee Reward and Referrer Reward. The referee arrives through their referrer’s link, creates a new account and gets a discount on their first subscription order. The referrer gets a discount on the next payment of their active subscription when the referee places their first order, with one discount per payment. Only an active subscriber (gift cards excluded) sees their referral link, in their account, on the My information page.

Click on Settings > Sites, then on your site’s pencil icon, and open the Marketing Parameters tab.

Check the Referral Program box to activate this program.

Enter fixed amounts for the discounts assigned to:
- the referee: Referee Reward
- the referrer: Referrer Reward
Both amounts must be filled in: as long as one of them is missing, the referral link applies no discount.
How Does It Work?
Section titled “How Does It Work?”From their account, on the My information page, the subscriber finds the Referral section and the link to share with the people they want to refer. Only a customer with an active subscription (gift cards excluded) sees this link and can refer.
The referee can use their referral discount for a new account.
It must not be an existing account, even if the referee had not yet placed an order. It must be a new account.
For the referrer, it’s a discount on the next payment of their active subscription, granted when the referee places their first order. For the referee, it’s a discount added to their cart when they arrive through the link, valid on their first subscription order.
A referrer can have multiple referees. However, the discounts do not accumulate on their next billing; they receive one discount (one coupon) per transaction, meaning one discount per month if they are on a monthly subscription.
If two referees order before the referrer’s next payment, only one discount applies to that payment. The second one is carried over to the following payment.
The variable {referral_url} is available in the subscription creation confirmation email. This variable corresponds to the link found in the My Account section when you are a customer. Feel free to use it to encourage your subscribers to share their referral link!
Frequently asked questions
Can the referral reward be a percentage?
No. The referee and referrer rewards are fixed amounts, entered in the Referee Reward and Referrer Reward fields.
Can a customer who already has an account get the referee discount?
No. The referee discount is reserved for a new account, even if the existing account has never placed an order.
Do the discounts of a referrer with several referees add up?
No. The referrer gets one discount per payment: if two referees order before their next payment, the second discount is carried over to the following payment.
Why does the referral link apply no discount?
Both amounts must be filled in: as long as the referee reward or the referrer reward is missing, the link applies no discount.
How do I encourage subscribers to share their link?
Add the referral_url variable to the subscription creation confirmation email: it contains the referral link the subscriber finds in their My Account area.
