When Ciklik manages your domain’s DNS zone, you view and edit it from your site’s record. This is useful to connect a professional mailbox, verify your domain with a third-party service (Google, Facebook, emailing tool) or point a subdomain to another service.

View your DNS

Open Settings > Sites, click your site, then the Advanced tab. It shows two fields:

• Name servers: the servers to declare at your domain registrar (where you bought the domain) so that Ciklik manages your DNS zone.
• DNS Records: the current records of your zone (name, type, values).

If both fields are empty, your domain’s DNS zone is not managed by Ciklik: changes are made at your registrar or DNS host.

Add or update a record

1. Open Settings > Sites and click your site.

2. In the actions menu, choose Update DNS.

3. Fill in the fields:

   • Type: TXT, A, MX or CNAME.
   • Subdomain: for example mail for mail.yourdomain.com. Leave empty for the root domain.
   • Value: the value given by the service you are connecting. For several values (several MX servers, for example), separate them with a comma.
   • Replace: check it to replace the existing values of this record.

4. Confirm the “WARNING: Are you sure you want to update your DNS settings?” message with Confirm.

The message “Vos modifications sont en cours !” (in French) confirms the change was sent. A DNS change can take a few minutes to a few hours to propagate. Check the result in the DNS Records field of the Advanced tab.

Enter every value of the record

The record is saved with the values you enter. To add a value to a record that already has one (a second TXT record on the root domain, for example), enter the old and the new value separated by a comma, and check Replace. Note the existing values from the DNS Records field before running the action.

Limits

• The action is reserved for the person who created the site (account holder). Other administrators do not see it.
• An A record is not accepted on the root domain or on www: they point to your Ciklik site.
• The action is not available for a site being deleted, or for a site on a Ciklik demo subdomain.
• If the message “Demandez la migration de nos DNS sur la nouvelle architecture au support…” (in French) appears, your DNS zone is not yet managed by Ciklik: write to support@ciklik.co.
• The message “Vérifiez vos valeurs. Les modifications ne sont pas envoyées” (in French, “check your values, nothing was sent”) means a value was rejected (wrong format for the chosen type): nothing was changed.
