Create a Discount Coupon
Watch the Video
Section titled “Watch the Video”Coupon Rules
Section titled “Coupon Rules”Discount coupons have several rules:
- You can make them available for specific plans only. If you don’t specify any plan, the coupon will be available for your E-Shop.
- You can also choose to apply them over multiple payments.
- You can also make a coupon usable multiple times (by different users).
- You can schedule when the discount code becomes invalid.
- You can choose whether the discount applies to the cart’s shipping fees or not.
- You can restrict a coupon to specific products and/or categories from your shop. The discount will then only apply to eligible products in the cart.
- You can set a minimum purchase amount (excluding shipping) below which the coupon is refused.
- You can reserve a coupon for active subscribers only.
Create a Coupon
Section titled “Create a Coupon”To create your coupon, click on Marketing > Coupons > Create a coupon. Fill in the fields:
- Name: This is the code that the visitor must enter under their order summary to receive the discount. Avoid special characters and spaces.
- Amount: Discount amount, in the following format: 10.90, 10, 11.49
- Duration: Is the code usable only on the first transaction, or should it be applied to multiple transactions?
- Expiration: Choose the date after which the coupon will no longer be usable.
- Maximum number of uses: For each coupon created, how many transactions can it be used on?
Two checkboxes are available in the discount coupon settings to:
- Reserve coupons for new accounts (created less than 24 hours ago)
- Make the coupon valid only once per customer
Once your coupon is created, you need to specify which plan it will be available for. If you don’t link your coupon to a plan, it will be usable for the shop.
By checking the Available in Shop and Subscription box, the coupon is valid for all your plans and single-purchase products. This allows you to apply a discount to the cart for a single-purchase product ordered along with a subscription.
By checking the Applies to shipping fees box, if the discount is a percentage, it will apply to the total cart amount, including shipping fees.
New fields allow you to refine coupon targeting:
- Products: Select one or more products the coupon will be restricted to. Only these products will benefit from the discount.
- Categories: Select one or more categories. All products belonging to these categories will be eligible for the discount.
- Minimum Amount: Set a minimum cart total (product total, excluding shipping) required for the coupon to be accepted.
- Subscribers Only: Check this box to reserve the coupon for customers with an active subscription (subscription in progress and expiration date in the future).
Advanced Restrictions
Section titled “Advanced Restrictions”Product, category, minimum amount, and subscriber restrictions allow you to create targeted promotions. Here are some practical examples.
Product Launch
Section titled “Product Launch”You are launching a new product and want to offer a discount only on that product, reserved for your loyal subscribers. Create a coupon, link it to the product in the Products field, and check Subscribers Only. Only your active subscribers will be able to use the code, and the discount will only apply to the selected product.
Category Discount
Section titled “Category Discount”You want to clear stock from an “Old Boxes” category. Create a 15% coupon and link it to the relevant category in the Categories field. The 15% discount will apply to the unit price of each product from that category present in the cart.
Minimum Purchase Amount
Section titled “Minimum Purchase Amount”You want to offer a 10 EUR discount for orders of 50 EUR or more. Create a 10 EUR fixed amount coupon and enter 50 in the Minimum Amount field. If the product total in the cart (excluding shipping) is below 50 EUR, the coupon will be refused with a message showing the required threshold.
Clone a Coupon to Generate Random Promotional Codes on the Fly
Section titled “Clone a Coupon to Generate Random Promotional Codes on the Fly”You have created a coupon. For a promotional campaign, you want to generate multiple discount coupons on the fly.
From the coupon details, in the dropdown menu, choose the action Clone coupon.
You then choose the number of coupons to generate with random codes.
You can find these coupons from the Coupons list in the left column. By selecting them, you can export them.
For example: I want to generate 50 coupons from my coupon code PROMO1. 50 clone coupons will be created with a code starting with PROMO1, but with a random 5-character sequence added: PROMOab3s9.
Using Coupons
Section titled “Using Coupons”For your visitors, the coupon that is provided must be added by clicking on the “Add a promo code” link below the order summary before completing the purchase.
Your coupons help you boost your acquisition. They can be applied to your plans or your products. However, the best long-term investment for acquisition should focus on your subscribers. Therefore, prioritize your coupons for your plans (such as for abandoned cart management) and make sure to properly manage your advertising campaigns.
Offer a Discount to Subscribers on the Shop
Section titled “Offer a Discount to Subscribers on the Shop”A percentage discount for subscribers can be set up for any purchase on the shop. The discount percentage should be entered in the Marketing Settings tab of the site. The format is 0.2 for 20%.
