Create a custom box

With Ciklik, a custom box is a box store plan with the Is Content Customizable? box checked: subscribers compose their own box when they subscribe, in one or more steps called customization categories. Each product offered has a score and each step a maximum score (12 by default), which limits the possible selection. Subscribers can change their selection from their My Account area as long as their subscription is active. You find the content chosen by each subscriber in the shipping slips export, to prepare your parcels.

Create a customizable plan

Prerequisite: You must have configured your subscription plans.

As a reminder, here are the steps to follow: create a plan

To enable the customizable plan feature, access its details in Subscriptions > Plans, then click the small pencil icon (edit).
Check the “Is Content Customizable?” box in the Settings tab of the plan.

Set up customization steps

Once the customizable plan is selected by a visitor, they can compose their box in one or more steps. These steps are called Categories.

Create your category(ies) corresponding to the box customization steps in Subscriptions > Advanced > Customization Categories (name, title shown during customization, description).
Then link each category to the plan: from the plan detail, Customization Step section, click Attach, choose the category and set its Maximum Score (12 by default) and its Position (order of customization steps).

Associate products for each step

Prerequisite: You must have created your products. They must be active. A product whose quantity is 0 is sold out and no longer offered to the customer; leave the quantity empty if you do not manage stock.

As a reminder, here are the steps to follow: create a product

Open the details of each category in Subscriptions > Advanced > Customization Categories, then, in the Products section, click Attach.
Select the desired product, assign it a Score and define its Position. The Maximum Quantity field limits how many units can be selected (empty: no limit).

The Preselection field sets the quantity of the product added by default when the visitor starts composing their box (0: no preselection).

You can use a tag system on products offered in custom boxes.

Go to Products > Advanced > Taxonomies and name the filter where you will find your different tags (example: I create an Appellation taxonomy).
Go to Products > Advanced > Tags and create the tags associated with the desired filter (example: “organic wine” and “natural wine” in the Appellation taxonomy)

These filters will be available for products offered in the sales funnel when composing a box.

It is possible to add a step in the box composition to offer optional products where the customer chooses the desired quantity, without being limited by a score, so that their selection impacts the price of their order. To do this, create an addon of type Upsell Customization (see Addons), then attach it to the category from its Addons section.

For each product, from the product detail page, if you create a FAQ block using the visual editor, it will be included and accessible in a small window when the visitor clicks on the product at the composition step, when selecting products for their package.

Access the content selected by a subscriber

To find the content of your subscribers’ custom boxes, go to Sales > Shipments > Shipping Slips.
Select the desired shipping slips using the available filters and export your shipping slips file (see Shipping slips management).
You will find the box content in your shipping slips file, in the customization column of the standard format, or one row per product with the “Export Custom Subscriptions” format (see Export shipping slips).

Access from the My Account area for a subscriber

A subscriber can find the content of their customizable plan from their My Account area, in the My subscriptions section, via the view my selection link.

They can also change the content of their subscription at any time, as long as the subscription is active, with the Customize my parcel button. No deadline is enforced: below the button, a sentence only advises them to choose between 5 and 2 days before their next parcel.

The new selection is applied to the subscription’s shipping slips scheduled since the 1st day of the month before last, including those whose date has passed. Export your shipping slips when you prepare a shipment, to freeze the selection you send.

Email notifications

The {*customization*} variable allows you to include the product selection details for customizable plans. It is available in the automatic emails for:

subscription confirmation
subscription resumption
package shipment notification

A subscriber who has signed up for a customizable plan and modifies their composition will be notified by email. This email can be customized in Content > Email Templates, template “Personnalisation modifiée” (subject “Votre abonnement est modifié”).

Frequently asked questions

How do I limit the number of products a subscriber can choose?

Each product attached to a step has a score, and each step a maximum score (12 by default) that the selection cannot exceed. The Maximum Quantity field also limits the number of units of the same product.

Can subscribers change the content of their box after subscribing?

Yes, with the Customize my parcel button in their My Account area, as long as the subscription is active. No deadline is enforced; a message advises them to choose between 5 and 2 days before their next parcel.
