Send a credit card update link

To respond to a customer request, from your Ciklik account:

  1. Go to the customer profile details
  2. Click on the at the top right
  3. Select Send CC update link

Your customer will receive an automatic email with a secure link that will allow them to update their credit card without needing to log in to their customer account.

Ciklik automatically sends a reminder email on the 25th of each month to affected customers.

Customers who receive this email meet all of these conditions:

  • Subscription with active status
  • Payment date scheduled within the current month
  • Credit card expiring soon

The email contains an auto-login link that redirects to a secure credit card update page.

When the customer clicks on the link:

  1. They are redirected to an auto-login page (no password needed)
  2. They enter the information for their new credit card
  3. The update is applied to all their active subscriptions automatically

To synchronize the credit card status with PrestaShop, use Ciklik webhooks:

  1. Configure a webhook on the card update event
  2. Create an endpoint on the PrestaShop side to receive the notification
  3. Update your PrestaShop data accordingly

Automatic cancellation of unpaid subscriptions

In case of payment failure during renewal (expired card, declined, etc.):

  1. Ciklik retries the payment according to the configured frequency (e.g., every 3 days)
  2. With each failure, the customer receives a reminder email with a payment link
  3. After X failed attempts, the subscription can be automatically cancelled

Automatic cancellation is configured in the advanced settings of your Ciklik site.

Q: Can the customer update their credit card from their PrestaShop customer area?

No, the credit card update is done only via the secure Ciklik link or from the customer area hosted by Ciklik. The PrestaShop customer area does not allow modifying payment information.

Q: What happens if the customer has multiple subscriptions?

The new credit card is automatically associated with all their active subscriptions.

Q: Does the update link have an expiration period?

Yes, the link expires after a certain delay for security reasons. If the customer does not use it in time, you can send them a new one.

Q: Can I customize the automatic email sent on the 25th of the month?

Yes, email templates are customizable in the Content > Email Templates section of your Ciklik account.
